Lets Schedule A Meeting And Talk About It

To survive in the startup game you need partners and investors. You’ll come across many people who say they can help but somehow you (I?) always feel like they’re lacking in urgency.
They’ll always say “Lets schedule a meeting and talk about it”, and that meeting will always be a several weeks from now. And then it will require another meeting, and another meeting, and it will test your patience. You are thinking to yourself, “Man, this is a hot deal. Why are we moving so slow?”

Personally, I hate this stalling tactic. I understand people are busy, but so am I. If I can make time to meet you NOW, so can you.

I liked this strip from the classic comic TheVC. Why don’t you say no now?

  1. hmm…it is so true:), but as an entrepreneur you’ll need a lot of patience, keeping always in your mind that what looks like “the deal of their life” for you might be one of a dozen opps. they are checking. Of course sometimes they are stalling , waiting to hear from others, waiting to see how persistent you are, maybe waiting to see if you manage to get someone else on that wagon (the well known “herd” syndrome.
When i work with young companies my first advice is “take long breath.. longer… longer..” :) after all you’re the one who’s selling here:) (btw, in the B2B marketing it just keeps on being the same, only instead of VC’s you have customers:))
good luck with the start-up, it sounds interesting (yet not an easy thing to get the funding for.)
